Nearly four decades, two brothers, and a whole lot of concrete — here's how a teenage side hustle in Utah became the Valley's most experienced outdoor living company.

Bill and Alan learned concrete curbing as teenagers — one nineteen, one sixteen — up in Utah back in 1988. A year later, chasing year-round work, they moved the business down to Arizona, becoming what is now the oldest concrete curbing company in the Valley.
Back then, concrete curbing barely existed. Brick was king for separating lawns from gravel and planter beds, so around 1991 the brothers started dyeing and scoring concrete to mimic brick, then added a rock-salt finish for texture and reinforced it with a wire ladder inside. It was stronger, more durable, and one continuous piece — a real alternative to brick.
By 1994 they'd taken it further: molding actual brick patterns and stamping them into fresh concrete curbing, blending their own technique with stamped concrete methods that had been around for a couple of decades. That opened the door to flagstone, natural stone, even railroad-tie looks. By 1995, that same stamping expertise moved from curbing into flatwork — walkways, patios, and pool decks — making the company the Valley's oldest, and still leading, residential stamped concrete company.
In the early 2000s, the company — originally called The Sharper Edge for its edging specialty — expanded into artificial turf, pool deck restoration, and full landscape design, eventually renaming itself Sharp Contracting, with The Sharper Edge living on as its stamped concrete product line. Today, doing business as My Home, the company builds everything from pavers and concrete coatings to pergolas, pavilions, gazebos, and now even swimming pools — still anchored by the hardscaping and stamped concrete craftsmanship that started it all.
Nearly four decades later, what began with two teenagers has grown into the Valley's most experienced outdoor living company — built on family, craftsmanship, and a whole lot of concrete.
